The QSM 1:87 HOn3½ Scale Queensland Standard Rail Type Buffer Stop kits are accurate scale representations of two versions of the standard rail formed buffer stop widely used on the Queensland system from the 1960's to present day.

Our Buffer stops are cast in white metal and supplied in kit form, unassembled and unpainted. While they are based on Code 75 rail and designed to be 100% compatible with Peco 12mm track, the buffer can be matched with Code 70, and Code 83 from other manufactureres with some adaptation.

According to the QR drawings for these buffers, when new they were to be supplied with the metalwork receiving one coat of red oxide R.O.Z.C. primer, followed by two coats of black alkyd enamel. The timber buffer beam was to receive one coat of approved primer and one coat of white alkyd enamel. However after several years of exposure to the elements, the metal components of the buffer rusted and assumed the same colour as normal rails. In some locations, these buffers received very individual colour schemes when repainted.
